Converted from a former agricultural buidling, Coombe Barn is nestled in the heart of Sidcot with views to the Mendip Hills. The owners needed to extend their home to accommodate the needs of their growing family. A contemporary addition was favoured to avoid a pastiche solution.

Whilst quite a small addition, it proved challenging at the detailed design and construction stage. A difficult intersection with the existing low ceiling kitchen, and the need to retain adjacent ground on two sides, whilst presenting a lightweight structure on approach, all needed careful consideration. The cantilevered roof enabled roof drainage to be concealed and fascias to be kept minimal in height.
